The Doors played a homecoming dance at the University of Michigan in 1967 (back when Homecoming was a huge deal), only Jim Morrison was so intoxicated, he almost started a riot over his inability to perform. One of the few people in the crowd impressed by Morrison’s behavior was a Michigan dropout named Jim Osterberg, who was inspired by the ‘performance’ to become Iggy Pop.
